Rule 3: Your Mind Responds Only to Pictures and Words

The subconscious mind does not live in abstract concepts; it speaks the visceral dialect of imagination and internal language.

When we replay a past mistake or catastrophize about an upcoming event, we paint a vivid cinematic horror film on our internal screen.

Our biology reacts instantly, treating the imaginary threat as a present-moment reality and flooding our cells with stress hormones.

Somatic Feeling Associated: A sudden knot tightening in the stomach, shallow breathing restricted to the upper chest, and cold palms, the physiological signature of a body reacting to a movie playing only in the mind.

Real-Life Situation: Before a big presentation or a difficult client call, your internal dialogue replays a vivid movie of stuttering, freezing, or messing up completely. Your stomach immediately ties itself in knots.

Somatic Work: Your subconscious cannot easily tell the difference between a real event and a vividly imagined one. Interrupt the catastrophe reel.

Stand up, roll your shoulders back, and intentionally paint a new internal picture, visualize your breath moving smoothly, your feet grounded, and your voice steady.

Use clear, grounding words internally: "I am anchored. I am safe, I am enough."

you can tapp that onto your chest area, with your fingers tapping on to your chest like "Tarzan" just a little less vigorous 😉

Tap, "I am anchored." Tap "I am safe." Tap "I am enough"

Reflection & Integration for Rule 3:

  • What internal movie or worried script has my mind been replaying lately?

  • What new, supportive picture or words do I want to paint for myself today?

  • Write down the old mental image to drop and the new visual anchor to step into!
